One of the things my dad wanted to do with Nathan was take him kayaking. He got one of the kayaks down ahead of time so Nathan could sit in it and become more familiar with it. He also tried getting him to get used to his life jacket ahead of time but that didn't work as well. We headed up to a lake about a half an hour away from where they live with very low expectations of Nathan actually getting in the kayak. However, he didn't even cry when I handed him in to his grandpa. He didn't seem thrilled about the idea but he tolerated it.
My dad brought some bubbles along for him to play with. He liked that but mostly liked dipping the wand in the water. He also liked holding onto the paddles to help. When we got him out of the kayak he splashed in the lake and liked finding rocks.
